DaVinci Roofscapes - Modern Performance Matched With Historic Look
The realistic style of this new product, a single-width, 12-inch-wide composite slate tile with a traditional fixed 8-inch exposure caught the couple's attention. The Province Slate tiles are available in Slate Gray, Slate Black, Smokey Gray, Castle Gray, European and Brownstone to compliment a wide range of architectural styles. The tiles, which are modeled after actual slate, have a natural non-repeating beauty that casual observers will assume is true slate. The Cummings chose Smokey Gray for their roof.
But instead of the headaches of installing heavy slate or the risks of brittle slate tiles cracking, the man-made material provides the same durability as slate with easier installation and resiliency. They are manufactured so they won’t curl, cup or split. The tiles, which are made of virgin resins, UV and thermal stabilizers, include a specialized fire retardant. Province Slate tiles are Class A Fire Rated and Class 4 Impact Rated.
RESILIENCE IN ANY CLIMATE
When the Cummings install their roof system with underlayment and waterproofing and then after add the Province Slate tiles, the result will be a roof that holds up to the extreme temperatures of the Berkshire Mountains. The tiles are designed to be resilient in any type of climate.
Province Slate tiles, which are manufactured in Kansas, hold up to freezing temperatures, hail and high winds. The tiles are even resilient to freeze-thaw weather cycles found in the mountains and the sometimes punishing salty and windy air in beachside locations.
The composite roofing tiles are rated for High Velocity Hurricane Zones (HVHZ) with a TAS 125 test that demonstrates the tiles are resilient to winds of up to 180 miles per hour.
The tiles are also resistant to algae and fungus growth as well as insects. |
A Lifetime Limited Materials Warranty backs every Province Slate roof and offers the potential for savings on a homeowner’s insurance policy.
EASY INSTALLATION
While natural slate tiles are heavy and can be cumbersome to install, Province Slate tiles are lightweight and easier to handle. Each tile includes a self-aligning ledge that simplifies installation and speeds the process. The back of each tile has an enhanced rib structure to keep lightweight while maintaining 5/8-inch profile.
Each Province Slate tile is 5/8-inch thick, 11.5-inches long and 12 inches wide with a fixed 8-inch exposure. That uniformity also makes installation easier; and a speedier installation may result in savings on labor.
Ultimately, Albert and Christina Cummings chose Province Slate because it offers a simple solution for a sophisticated, yet sustainable look.
